As I've already stated, I am a proud member of the school marching band. Prior to serving as the 2009 Drum Major, I held the position of Bass Drum Section Leader for the two preceding years. I also received the Most Dedicated Award for each of those years.

During ninth grade, I was coerced by my brother (a senior at the time) to run the lights for the school's fall play, Pride and Prejudice, as the usual lighting tech could not attend one of the performances. After learning how to use the light board, I was hooked, and when the school finally set up the new light board, I was ecstatic. My brother and I were the sole members of the Technical Theater Club that year, him running the sound and me the lights.

When the time came for the spring musical, I elected to act in the production; still, though, nearly every rehearsal I was called back to assist with the lighting. Throughout the year, I was called on to help run the lights and sound for various school assemblies and activities. My favorite of these were the dance concerts, for which I could use gels and sequencing to enhance the performance. Over the summer, I accepted a job offer to run the lights and sound for several outside dance troupes that wished to use the school's auditorium for their concerts.

Since then, I've been an active member of the Tech Theater Club, assisting with concerts, performances, and assemblies. While lighting technology is not something I would pursue as a career, it is something that I enjoy immensely.
